Conservation Project

In recent years, artificial reefs have become an increasingly attractive alternative for coastal protection. Artificial reefs can be used to protect or restore beaches and at the same time create an environment conducive for the growth of marine life.

beach clean - up

Marine debris such as plastic bags, fishing lines and nets are also affecting most of the marine mammals and sea turtles. These animals are choked or entangled in debris every year. The one million seabirds killed by litter each year is just one of the evidences of the damage done by these marine debris.

reef clean-up

Underwater cleanups are a great way to help protect and conserve the marine environment for this and
future generations to enjoy. There are some special considerations when cleaning up under water,
especially in fragile coral reef environments such as those here in Malaysia especially in Mersing Islands.

Importance of Marine Biological Diversity

1.Source of food for mankind
2.Source of medicine and tools for medical research
3.Source of raw materials
4.Provider of ecosystem services – coastal process, global climate effects
5.Source of ideas
6.As an aesthetic and recreatinoal resource
7.As an insurance against unpredictable changes in the world
